Frequently asked questions

FAQ

1. Do I need a lawyer?

InGermany, lawyers are compulsory from the district court onwards. Below that, you can represent your legal interests yourself. Your lawyer is your representative. He or she will examine the legal situation, observe formalities and deadlines, draft pleadings and make appointments for you. This helps you gain much-needed distance from disputes and gives you the opportunity to use the lawyer's rhetorical skills. This is how you navigate to success with advice.

2. What will this cost me?

The attorney's fees are usually based on the so-called rate framework. The value of your dispute is taken as a basis. But: not every contact immediately triggers costs! In a short orientation meeting we outline your situation without binding examination or legal advice. If you would like a consultation afterwards, you can book an initial consultation.

An initial consultation costs 226.10 euros including VAT. Please note that as a foreign national we have to ask you to pay in advance and a consultation is only possible after full payment of the amount. If you commission the law firm for representation in or out of court, the fees for the initial consultation are waived completely.

In certain cases, some legal expenses insurers cover the legal fees in full or in part. Please call your insurance company in advance and ask for cost coverage.

3. How do I sue someone?

You think you have a claim that you want to enforce in court. To do this, contact the Albrecht law firm. In the first meeting we will discuss your legal situation. As a rule, the other party will then be asked to show the desired behavior. If this is not successful, your lawyer will draft the complaint on the basis of your information and file it with the competent court. At the hearing, an agreement may be reached or a judgment may follow.

4. Will my legal expenses insurance pay?

This depends on your respective insurance contract. If you instruct the law firm Albrecht, the coverage request and correspondence with your legal protection insurer is free of charge for you. You can also inquire by telephone whether your legal expenses insurance will cover the costs of the initial meeting or the assignment. Also ask about any deductible! As a rule, legal fees and court costs are covered, but not every risk is covered by every contract. We can clarify questions about billing modalities in the initial meeting.

5. How can I recognize a good lawyer?

Your trust in your lawyer is the key: a good lawyer appears pleasant and competent. He advises you fully on opportunities, but also on risks. He takes his time in the conversation, keeps agreed appointments and reports on your case. Take the time to get to know your lawyer and get your own feeling: perhaps your case will extend over years! Make sure that you can reach your lawyer: can you speak to your own lawyer or are you regularly put off by the secretary's office? Also talk to your lawyer about the costs. A good lawyer is transparent and does not surprise you with bills. In the end, it has to be a personal fit: Your lawyer should be sympathetic to you.
